Darwin:
This is the most popular town and also the territorial
capital of the Northern Territory. It is a city of about
110000 inhabitants with a large proportion of Aboriginal
people, which justify the fact that the town is sometimes
called 'the multicultural capital of Australia'.
Now Darwin is closer
to Jakarta than to Sydney, and also closer to Singapore
than to Melbourne. Darwin is located right at a harbour/bay
often called Port Darwin. The city stretches all the
way to the Beagle Gulf, which is part of the Timor Sea.
Right across Port Darwin, a 15-minute ferry ride will
bring you to Mandorah.

It is not really a suprise
then that Darwinians looks to Asia for travel, influences
in dress and food as much as it looks south to the rest
of Australia. Darwin's proximity and relationship such
as it's sister city program with the northern territory's
northern neighbours is reflected in Darwins cosmopolitan
and relaxed tropical atmosphere and culture.

Mitchell Street located
one street back from the The Esplanade and one street
over from the Smith Street Mall in Darwin, Northern
Territory, Australia. Mitchell Street is currently regarded
by the locals as our entertaiment district. Did you
know around the late 1980's the entertaiment district
was also covering Cavenagh Street and the Top End of
Mitchel Street. Nowdays it is centred around a 500m
stretch of Mitchell Street in the CBD. Mitchell Street
is regarded as the nightlife centre of Darwin with it's
cinema's, sidwalk cafes, open air sidwalk bar's, upmarket
restaurant's, 5 Star hotels and quaint Irish, English
oh yes and Aussie pubs.
We are proud to say
Mitchell Street is one our 'clean, proper and peaceful'
entertaining areas of Darwin for the friends, groups,
family or singles early in the evenings. Especially
our own Darwin Entertainment Centre.

The markets run from
the last week in April until (this year being April
24th, 2008) the end of October. The
market is open on Thursday from 5pm-10 pm and Sunday
4pm to 9pm. The Mindil Beach Market is nestled against
the Mindil Beach and next to the Sky City Casino resort
and Darwin tennis Courts and some 800 metres from our
Botantical Gardens.
Is there free parking
available at the market? Also as the parking is in an
open area it is very easy for large motorhomes to park-
But come about 4.30pm so it's easy to park.
No you can't buy alcohol
- but currently you can bring your own alcohol and ice
is available at Mindil You can also rent tables and
chairs and enjoy a drink in comfort as so many patrons
do.

I have lived here (on
and off) since 1988 and it has to be one of a few cities
that I have known that every one of every religon and
race seems to live in harmony. We are known as Darwinian's
and generally are hard working on the one side but laid
back and relaxed after hours on the other.
There is one major problem
when you visit Darwin. That is you will want to stay;
it has happened to everyone we know. It's a great city
and even better life style. Imagine many things that
other capital cities have as infrastructure well we
have too and it's all around 15 mins drive from one
to the other.
